What type of Professional Digital Camera would you recommend to start out with?

Jacqueline asked:

I am really into photography, and have a pocket digital camera, and a nice cannon which is film, but I really want to start using a professional digital camera. Are there any certain types that you would recommend for me?

-thanks.

Sorry, I don’t know why that repeated the question… And yes, I do have a Canon EOS Film.

Thank you all for your opinions and knowledge over these cameras. :)

Right at this moment, I do not have a set price on how much I will spend, but I do want good quality! If there are any more ideas of which one to get, I’m totally up for it.

Thank you once again,
Jacqueline.

    I would recommend an S.L.R
I started out with a Nikon D80. I loved it. I still use it sometimes. The quality is great and it’s not too expensive. Since you are starting out, I would maybe even suggest a Nikon D60. A good flash would also be a good thing to get.

    good luck

    i’d start with a dslr.

I’m not a camera guru, but one of my close friends got a canon rebel xsi for his birthday a month ago and loves it.

A top of the line Nikon such as the D3, or if you have limited funds then a good used D1, you should find a D1 for under $400.00. Just make sure it’s from a reputable shop.

What kind of Canon film camera do you have? If it is an EOS version, then you would be well advised to get a Canon DSLR because you already have lenses that you can use. The new “prosumer” version cameras (like the 40D and 50D) offer a lot of “bang for the buck” and are around $1500. A good Canon flash will set you back another $300-400. If you can’t afford that much, the Canon Digital Rebel series cameras are very good for around $400-$900 depending on the model you choose. Good luck to you! Happy shooting!
